APD issues Silver Alert for missing man, 85

Austin police Wednesday afternoon issued a Silver Alert for an 85-year-old man.

Howard E. Butler
According to police, Howard E. Butler, who has been diagnosed with chronic dementia, drove away from his South Austin home Tuesday morning.
He was last seen in Converse, Texas at a gas station Wednesday morning. Police say he appeared disoriented and confused, but he drove away before anyone could help him.
Butler is 5'6" tall, 180 pounds, with brown eyes and trifocal lenses. He was driving a four-door 1999 green Buick Park Avenue with disabled TX license plates 7VRCC.
