Domain suffers third smash-and-grab burglary
08:45 AM CDT on Tuesday, June 3, 2008
Austin Police are investigating the third smash and grab burglary at the Domain.
The latest crime happened early Sunday morning at the Apple Computer store.
A witness living in a nearby apartment complex heard breaking glass. They looked over the balcony to see two light-skinned men running in haste towards a newer model gray Mazda hatchback.
Apple Computers isn't commenting, but APD say three laptops were taken in the smash and grab.
"It's unfortunately very easy with any store front of display being on the front, just smash and grab and leave virtually undetected," said Officer James Mason.
Last July a group of masked bandits hit the jewelry department at the Macy's Department store at the Domain taking an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

Then in October thieves hit the Louis Vuitton store getting away with $18,000 in high-priced handbags.
Detectives say thieves in all of the crimes were brazen in the fact that the Domain has round the clock security, plus Austin Police are known to drive through the Domain frequently.
"It's just right out open in the public and you never know who's out there who's watching you obviously there was somebody watching in this case," adds Officer Mason.
The smash and grab thieves from this weekend were seen getting into a newer model, gray Mazda hatchback.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Austin Police.
