Sources: Adame to lose job
10:52 PM CDT on Tuesday, May 6, 2008
KVUE News has learned that Austin Fire Chief J.J. Adame is losing his job.
Well-placed sources tell KVUE an emergency meeting was held Tuesday evening. After just two years on the job, they say Adame will be replaced.
Two months ago, Adame was put on notice that his job was in jeopardy. The city manager’s office said he needed to show more direct leadership. He was given 45-days to make changes.
Adame was hired in 2006 as the first Hispanic fire chief in Austin history.
This is the first big move under City Manager Marc Ott since he was hired in January.
An official announcement is expected soon.
An interim fire chief will take over as the city begins the formal search for a replacement.
