Man's body found near Southeast Austin golf course
06:10 PM CDT on Tuesday, April 29, 2008
A man's body was found Tuesday afternoon near the fourth hole of a golf course in Southeast Austin, Austin police said.
Emergency crews were initially called to an area near the course on Jimmy Clay Drive after reports that someone was found in the water.
Austin police have released little information, but they said the body was found in a creek bed about 250 feet from the Kizer Golf Course -- not on the course’s property.
They said the body is a white or Hispanic male and was partially decomposed.
"I'm shocked. Makes me a little nervous to come out here, but I hope figured out what it is and how it happened," said Jeff Haslam, golfer.
The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy. Police say they are trying to identify the body and have not called the death suspicious.
