Water main break in south Austin leaves residents without water
08:35 PM CDT on Monday, April 28, 2008
About 100 residents in south Austin were without water Monday because of a water main break.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. near S. 7th Street and Joanna Avenue, near Oltorf and Lamar.
Water utility officials say crews from the Austin Clean Water Program were working on a sewer project when they ruptured a 24-inch water main.
Residents in the area were asked to drink bottled water or boil their water before drinking.
As of Monday night, there was no timetable as to when the water would be back.
