It's a chance to honor those inspired or influenced by Texas.... In a town where filmmaking is more than welcome.

"People are always excited to come here. It's not like getting sent to.. No offense, Toronto," said actor Luke Wilson while on the red carpet.

Wilson presented ZZ Top with the AMD Live! Soundtrack Award.

"This is a real joy," said Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.

"I've been a big fan of Austin,” said actress Molly Simms. “So many great directors shoot here and it's a great thing to support - normally it's music but now it's film."

"I'm so utterly honored and excited and I think she's here with us tonight," said Mariska Hargitay, Law and Order: SUV. She accepted an award on behalf of her late mother Jayne Mansfield - who went to the University of Texas.

"So proud and life is full of beautiful surprises and this is one of them," said Hargitay.

During the program, which Dan Rather emceed, Austin's own Mike Judge was also honored.

He's the creative force behind the movie "Office Space," "Beavis and Butt Head" and "King of the Hill."

Morgan Fairchild was also among those honored.. We spoke with her about her days filming "Dallas."

"I just always remember cause Larry Hageman and I were the only native Texans so all these Yankees would follow us around with their scripts and say, 'Say my lines in Texan'," said Fairchild.

"It's my first award ever that I've ever decided to accept," Debra Winger told KVUE News.

She accepted an award on behalf of the cast and crew of the 1980 classic Texas film "Urban Cowboy."

"I always love Austin. It's coming back... I’ve been coming here for longer than I’d like to admit," said Winger.

The spotlight shined on Austin Friday night, honoring those who support Texas filmmaking.
