An Austin police officer has been injured in a traffic accident on Ranch
Road 2222 and West Slope.
Police say just before 9 a.m. a driver heading southbound on West Slope
turned on to 2222 and hit veteran officer Steve Claiborne, who was on a
motorcycle.
The officer was taken to the hospital with broken ribs and legs.
The road was closed until noon.
No charges have been filed, but crews are still investigating.
While responding to the accident, another officer was injured at MoPac
and Northland. Those injuries were not said to be serious.
