AUSTIN - Apple announced the biggest overhaul of its mobile operating system ever. When iOS 7 is released this fall it will have a different look, more features, and a new way to keep crooks away.
The icons will be flatter, and the text sharper. Swipe up from the bottom of the phone and you will now see a new set of easy-access controls like WI-FI, Bluetooth and airplane mode.
Apple is adding a remote kill switch which makes it impossible for anyone to ever reuse a stolen iPhone.
And forget having to update apps. That will now happen automatically.
Apple is also taking aim at music services like Pandora and Spotify with the launch of iTunes radio.
It will come with the new operating system, computers, and Apple TV. You can stream music on demand, creating stations by artist, album, song, or genre. iTunes Radio will be free if you don't mind ads. If you join iTunes Match for 25 dollars a year, it's ad free.
A lot of you have been using the traffic and navigation app KVUE partners with, Waze. We demonstrated how well it works in a previous Tech Tuesday.
Google announced Tuesday that it has bought Waze.
The app taps into your phones GPS to see how fast you're going and also allows drivers to instantly report traffic trouble.
Google will get to use Waze's traffic data and Waze will get to use Google maps.
