AUSTIN, Texas -- South by Southwest (SXSW), the annual interactive media and film festival, opened Friday evening despite cold, chilly rain pouring down at the Paramount Theater in Austin.
“This is a very big deal for us. When we heard (the movie premiere) was going to be in Austin, that was the best for us,” said Joss Whedon, the co-writer and Producer of a movie called Cabin in the Woods.
Whedon is also well known for being the creative force behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly just to name a few.
His latest work, Cabin in the Woods was shot in Canada in 2009 and was shelved for three years because the studio went bankrupt.
“It's been so long since we've made it now that this is all the reward without any remembrance of the stress. So it's kind of nice surprise that we're here now,” added Whedon.
Cabin in the Woods, a horror film, is about five friends who escape to a remote cabin when their vacation get scary.
Cabin in the Woods hits theaters across the country on Friday, April 13.
