Two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster directs and stars in "The Beaver," which made its world premiere Wednesday at the Paramount Theatre.
Showing in the SXSW Film Festival, the movie stars Mel Gibson as a depressed toy executive suffering through an emotional crisis. His only relief comes when he surrenders his mind to a beaver hand puppet. Despite some very funny moments, the film has the dark tone expected of a story depicting mental illness.
The film is released nationwide May 20.
