AUSTIN -- Police say they are ready to step up their presence as Austin gets closer to the South By Southwest Festival.
With more people expected this year, officers say they hope to avoid problems. Last year, crowds tore down fences during concerts at Auditorium Shores and a bar downtown.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, as many as 400 officers will be on duty during the music portion of the festival.
SXSW starts this Friday, March 9.
