Texas water officials approve $255 million for new reservoir

AUSTIN -- The Texas Water Development Board approved a 255 million dollar bond Thursday to help the Lower Colorado River Authority build a new reservoir in South Texas.

The new reservoir would reduce the need for releases from Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan, in addition to reducing the stress on the local water supply.

The reservoir would be built near Lane City in Southeast Texas and is set to open in 2017.
