East Texas couple celebrate 80th wedding anniversary
07:00 PM CST on Monday, November 12, 2007
Happily ever after has turned into 80 years of marriage for an East Texas couple.
Melvin Scott -- who's 100 -- and his 99-year-old-wife, Minnie Lou, celebrated their anniversary over the weekend.
The husband and wife from Frankston, about 100 miles southeast of Dallas, were joined by generations of relatives and friends.
The pair had already decided to get married when they were offered $25 to exchange vows on stage as part of a traveling vaudeville show.
They did it -- and used the money to buy a bedroom group and a set of china.
Melvin and Minnie Lou say they still eat off those plates today.
