08:03 PM CDT on Friday, November 2, 2007
An off-duty officer was killed in an accident while riding his personal motorcycle Friday afternoon.
Sgt. John Bocko, who worked at the Southside substation, was declared dead at the scene at 1:17 p.m.
"He was killed on the scene," said Police Chief William McManus.
The accident occurred just after noon in the 9500 block of Fredericksburg Road.
The sergeant, according to McManus, was traveling southbound as a truck was coming out of a Valero Corner store parking lot.
The officer was unable to avoid the truck and was killed on impact when he T-boned the truck.
Police were not immediately releasing details of the wreck and continued to investigate the accident.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
