Man accused of concealing bodies faces new charge
01:17 PM CDT on Thursday, October 19, 2006
FORT WORTH, Texas - First, Ron Dodd was charged with helping a friend hide the lifeless bodies of a pregnant woman and her son.
The Fort Worth man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, who is his friend's ex-wife.
Dodd's already scheduled for trial next month on two counts of tampering with physical evidence. Authorities say he helped friend and business partner Stephen Barbee conceal the bodies of Lisa Underwood and her seven-year-old son, Jayden, in a wooded area last year in Denton County.
Barbee was convicted and sentenced to death in the murders. Now, Tarrant County deputies allege Dodd assaulted Barbee's ex-wife, Theresa Barbee, at a home in Haslett on October Ninth.
A warrant's been issued for Dodd, charging him with misdemeanor assault. Since Dodd's on parole from a 1996 aggravated assault sentence, state prison officials have also obtained a warrant after
learning of the domestic violence incident.
A sheriff's detective says Dodd has checked into a mental health facility but will be taken into custody once he's released.
