Richard Lee, the San Antonio poker champ who was accused of operating a gambling place, has cut a deal with prosecutors.

Lee was charged with operating a gambling place out of his Shavano Park home.

To avoid jail time, Lee and his four friends pleaded no contest to the charges. Each will be on deferred adjudication and pay a $2,000 fine.

The men will also forfeit $2.6 million in gambling winnings to the state — $2.2 million of which is coming from Lee himself.

The state was prepared to go after the five men for felony charges, after evidence pointing to the gambling operation was uncovered. However, all of the charges that the men pleaded no contest to were misdemeanor charges, which are punishable by up to a year in jail. However, none of the men will serve any jail time.

Lee, who placed sixth in the World Series of Poker tournament in August 2006, is just glad the last 14 months are behind him.

"I'm just glad it's over with. I'm mean, you know, I guess I just got to get out to Las Vegas and win a poker tournament," Lee said
