Large fire rages at Fort Worth business
08:14 AM CDT on Thursday, September 25, 2008
FORT WORTH — Wooden pallets fueled a huge two-alarm fire early Thursday in south Fort Worth.
Flames from the fire, at Metroplex Wood Products in the 2300 block of Risinger Road, could be seen rising in the morning sky from miles away.
Crowley Road was shut down so firefighters could run water hoses to the scene.
The fire continued to burn, but was said to be under control at 7:30 a.m. after raging for more than three hours. The fire site is isolated from other homes and businesses, and there appeared to be no danger of it speading.
Firefighters said the building housing Metroplex Wood Products was intact, but its inventory of pallets was being destroyed.
No injuries were reported.
