Police: Mom, teen daughter kill man in $15 robbery
07:38 AM CDT on Sunday, September 7, 2008
PASADENA -- Two teenage girls near Houston are accused of stabbing a 75-year-old man to death in a robbery, and police say the mother of one of the teens helped put them up to it.
The two teenagers and 38-year-old Dannette Gillespie have each been charged with capital murder in slaying of bar owner Eugene Palma.
According to court records, Gillespie's 15-year-old daughter and 19-year-old Vanessa Anne Ocampo stabbed and robbed Palma outside his suburban Houston home early Wednesday. Police say the robbery netted the girls just 15 dollars.
Gillespie allegedly waited in a car while the stabbings took place and had given the girls the knives. Palma didn't appear to know the women.
Ocampo allegedly told police that the women had been looking for someone to rob.
No bond was set for the suspects, and it wasn't clear Saturday if they had attorneys.
