02:09 PM CDT on Friday, August 29, 2008
DALLAS -- U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison is applauding John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate.
Hutchison said Friday at her Dallas home that she wasn't disappointed about not being McCain's choice. There had been speculation that Hutchison was a possible choice for the No. 2 spot on the Republican ticket.
Hutchison, who has hinted that she might run for Texas governor in 2010, said she doesn't "want to spend four more years in Washington."
Hutchison said McCain's choice of Palin is a "bold and exciting opportunity." She said that by choosing a woman, McCain has an opportunity to capture voters who are eager for a change.
