08:14 AM CDT on Wednesday, May 14, 2008
TEXAS CITY, Texas -- An elderly woman was severely attacked by three pit bulls in Texas City Tuesday morning sending the 76-year-old to the hospital.
Minnie Davis was taking the trash out at her South Texas Avenue Home at about 5 a.m. Tuesday when the attack occurred. The woman suffered severe dog bites to both her legs and had to crawl back into her home to safety, said Capt. Brian Goetschius.
Mrs. Davis’ 25-year-old neighbor was also attacked when she came out to investigate what was happening after hearing his elderly neighbor’s screams.
The dog’s owner was cited for the attack and the three dogs were put down said Goetschius.
Davis was admitted to UTMB's John Sealy hospital in Galveston. Her condition was unknown Tuesday night.
