Cops bust three with ambulance full of pot
10:37 AM CDT on Friday, March 16, 2007
Three men – including an Alvin native—were busted driving an ambulance stuffed with marijuana this week in Maumelle, Arkansas.
The men were posing as EMTs, but instead of transporting patients, they were hauling nearly 400 pounds of marijuana worth $500,000 on the street.

Authorities arrested John Whillhite, of Alvin, along with two other suspects from the Miami area after the men had mechanical problems with their ambulance and were forced to pull into a Shell gas station.
Whillhite was apparently driving.
Police believe the owner of the ambulance, which was intended for use as a storage unit, was unaware of the group's activities.
The group’s trip began in Houston, and they were headed up Interstate 40 in Arkansas when it came to an end.
Police say one of the men may actually be an EMT, but they are not saying which one.
Officers at the scene found the drugs stuffed in cardboard boxes in the drawers and cabinets of the vehicle.
The men were all arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver, a Class A felony.
All three suspects remain in custody at the Pulaski Regional Jail on $175,000 bond.
