City attorneys push to reinstate the 'can ban'

NEW BRAUNFELS -- As promised city attorneys for New Braunfels are pushing to reinstate the highly controversial 'can ban.'

The city filed a brief with the third court of appeals here in Austin, asking to overturn a ruling in March, which struck down the voter-approved ban on disposable containers on the Comal and Guadalupe rivers.

Attorneys argue the ban successfully cut down on litter left by tubers.

River outfitters challenged it, claiming they've lost business because of the ban.

The appeals court is asking to hear oral arguments from both sides
