Three people, including two children, were killed in a single-engine plane crash in Spring Branch on Sunday morning.

The plane crashed down on private property after departing Kerrville Municipal Airport and was bound for Pearland, Texas.

The Beechcraft A36 Bonanza was registered in Kerrville to the 60-year-old pilot Carlos McKinney. Dylan and Brandon Lord, ages 13 and 12, were also on board and troopers believe they were the pilot’s grandchildren. All three on board were killed.

People who live near the crash site say they heard a loud percussion sound around 11:30 am.  That is the time the Federal Aviation Administration says radar contact was lost with the plane approximately 9000 feet above the ground.

There were storms in the area at the time of the crash which occurred less than a mile away from Kestral Air Park. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will continue to look over the crash scene for the black box and other evidence which could reveal the cause of the crash.
