DALLAS –– The Texas Department of Public Safety on Monday added a 51-year-old convicted rapist who escaped a Dallas halfway house to its most wanted sex offender list.
The state is offering $3,000 to anyone who can help point authorities to Robert Charles Grunsfeld, 51, who cut off his ankle monitor on Friday and slipped out of the West Dallas halfway home where he was ordered to stay.
The state describes Grunsfeld as a “sexually violent predator at high risk to reoffend.” He’s been convicted of aggravated sexual assault once and twice for sexual assault.
In 2010, he was ordered to live at the halfway house he escaped from after he attempted to kidnap an adult to sexually assault, the state notes. He has used a stun gun on his victims, handcuffed them and sprayed tear gas in their eyes while he raped them, the state says.
Grunsfeld is 5’8’’ and weighs about 186 pounds. He’s used both “Grumsfeld” and “Grunsfield” as aliases. He has a scar on his upper left arm.
He’s worked as a laborer in the past and has family in both Dallas and Austin. His last known address was 899 N. Stemmons Freeway in Dallas. To report information leading to Grunsfeld, call 1.800.252.8477; text the letters DPS and the tip to 274637 or submit a Facebook tip.
