AUSTIN -- State Representative Dawnna Dukes is recovering from whiplash and a possible concussion after a traffic accident in San Marcos last Thursday.
According to KVUE's news partner the Austin-American Statesman, the Austin Democrat was hit by a pickup.
Dukes was treated at a San Marcos hospital.
On Monday her fellow lawmakers observed a moment of silence to pray for her recovery.
The state representative also posted about the accident on her Facebook account Monday.
"Thanks to each and every one of you for your kind words, thoughts and prays. I'm pretty banged up indeed, but I'm abundantly blessed. I won't be running in my high heels or flats for a while. Again, my heartfelt thanks to you all," she said.
The representative tells KVUE News she is grateful the accident wasn't worse.
"My new philosophy is, 'I'm very banged up but I'm abundantly blessed that it was not worse,'" Dukes said.
