SAN ANTONIO -- A second Brandeis High School student involved in an accident during her lunch break on Tuesday has died, according to a family attorney.
Family attorney and friend Loraine Efron said Gina Rodriguez died overnight. She was 16.
Rodriguez was taken off life support early Wednesday morning.
Four students, including Rodriguez, were rushed to the hospital after the accident on Tuesday.
Police said Antonio Flores, 19, attempted to pass a truck on the Loop 1604 access road but didn't realize the truck was turning left onto Hausman Road. The car slammed into the truck and then a utility pole.
Gabriela Lerma, 17, was later pronounced dead.
The other passenger has been identified as 18-year-old Monique Castaneda. She and Flores remain in the hospital.
The driver and the passenger of the truck were also taken to the hospital but are expected to be OK. They were identified as Ricardo Sandoval, 49, and Oscar Rios, 27.
