SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio police officer shot in the head during a high-speed chase with robbery suspects earlier this month died Friday, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
“With great sorrow we have received word from the Deckard family that Bobby passed away this morning. Again, they appreciate all the prayers and support they have received over the past several days. Thank you for all the support you have shown Bobby and his family," San Antonio Police Chief William McManus wrote in a tweet.

Officer Deckard was pronounced dead at 9:53 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013. He was being treated at SAMMC since his accident on Dec. 8.
The family said they take comfort in the fact that Deckard is an organ donor and that he will continue to offer others a second chance through that.
The blood drive set to honor Officer Deckard on Monday, Dec. 23, is still going on. The drive is co-hosted by SAPD and San Antonio Military Medical Center at the Akeroyd Blood Donor Center, located at Fort Sam Houston. The drive will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Funeral arrangements will be made public as soon as they are finalized, according to SAPD.
