PILOT POINT — A Union Pacific freight train hit a sport utility vehicle at a crossing in Pilot Point Saturday morning, killing the driver.
Witnesses said the driver went around the warning gates at the intersection of Highway 377 and FM 455 at 9:32 a.m. The impact propelled the SUV into a ditch, where it landed upside-down.
The name of the SUV driver was not available. No other injuries were reported.
The accident site is 14 miles northeast of Denton.
Prior to this incident, the Associated Press reported that 32 people have died in railroad crossing accidents in Texas this year.
