Dallas, Texas — Police cars surrounded an American Airlines jet at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Monday evening after the pilot asked for a security check.
An airline spokesperson told News 8 that a passenger on Flight 2137 to Guatemala City stood up in the cabin and said he wanted to get off as the plane with 150 passengers aboard was pushing back from Terminal D shortly before 5 p.m.
The passenger, a 23-year-old Guatemala citizen, then reportedly told the cabin crew that he had an "issue" with a bag in the luggage compartment.
The pilot elected to return to the gate and asked for the plane to be searched, D/FW Airport spokesman David Magañas said.
The passenger was removed from the plane along with his luggage. Magaña said nothing was found in the bag. The passenger will be questioned by federal authorities.
The plane was rescheduled to depart for Guatemala City at 7:30 p.m.
