PARKER COUNTY, Texas – A 17-year-old Parker County teen was arrested moments after calling 911 Thursday morning to tell dispatchers that he gunned down his mother and 15-year-old sister.
In a release, Sheriff Larry Fowler said investigators spent the morning questioning Jake Evans. He is being held without bond on a charge of capital murder of multiple persons. The Parker County Sheriff's Department website shows he was booked into jail at 9:15 a.m. Fowler says he'll be arraigned Thursday afternoon.
The department believes he acted alone.
Evans called 911 at 12:34 a.m. and told dispatchers that he shot and killed his mother, Jamie Evans, 48, and his 15-year-old sister at their home in the 100 block of River Creek Lane in Anetta South. His sister has not been identified.
Deputies responded and arrested Evans at the home without incident, Fowler said. His mother and sister were found dead in different rooms of their home, which is located inside a gated community.
Aledo Independent School District superintendent Stan Manning said Jake Evans and his sister both withdrew from the district earlier this year to be home schooled.
The 17-year-old told investigators that he used a .22 revolver in the killings. Fowler said the exact cause of death for both victims is pending autopsies by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.
Fowler said the father and husband of the victims was out of town on business at the time of the murders.
