SAN ANTONIO -- Police say a 30-year-old man was killed overnight by a longtime friend in a bizarre sword attack after a night of drinking.
The deceased has been identified as Roy Rosales.
According to a San Antonio police report, Rosales was drinking and listening to music with a "good friend" and the man's girlfriend outside their apartments in the 300 block of Grove Avenue.
The friend and suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Christopher Shows.
Police said the two men got into an argument after Rosales started dancing with and touching his friend's girlfriend around 1:30 a.m.
Shows told police he decided to call it a night and advised his friend to do that same. Shows and his girlfriend then went inside their apartment and locked the door so they could get some sleep.
Witnesses told police that Rosales began banging on his friend's door, saying "open the door so I can kick your ass and your girlfriend's ass," according to the report.
Shows told officers that Rosales managed to kick down the door. Fearing for his life, he grabbed three-foot sword and stabbed Rosales in the right side of his chest.
However, police noted the door swings outward and there was no apparent damage to the door or frame.
Shows was arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Bexar County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
Police said the two men had been friends for nearly 10 years.
