FLATONIA, Texas -- Authorities arrested a man Friday after discovering marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Jose Luis Ramirez, 44, of Laredo was charged with possession of marijuana. Authorities seized 309 pounds of marijuana in the tool box and auxiliary tank in the bed of the truck.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit assisted a trooper with the seizure on IH-10, two miles west of Flatonia.
A trooper conducted a traffic stop on the pickup truck after a traffic violation. After making contact with the driver, the trooper observed several criminal indicators and was given consent to search the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle, Ramirez fled on foot into the woods. However, he was chased into the woods and apprehended.
