DALLAS, Texas -- Cameras and guards keep watch over the Southern Methodist University campus in Dallas, days before the nation's most powerful politicians fill these seats.

President Barack Obama and four former U.S. presidents will attend the dedication of the George W. Bush presidential library and museum on Thursday.

A security expert says the campus will be safe, but he's worried about the rest of Dallas.

"The homegrown are the real danger...Those guys live here and they know the city and they see the news and they know what's happening," Avi, a security expert said.

The Secret Service is overseeing security along with several law enforcement agencies, including the Dallas Police Department.

"You know there's 13 presidential libraries...And in most dedications all living presidents attend...So there is a template for this," Dallas Police Chief David Brown said.

Once open, the new library will offer visitors 200 million documents, 43,000 artifacts and 35 interactive games that document George W. Bush's life and legacy.

"It's the scrapbook if you will," said Mark Langdale, president of the George W. Bush foundation. "Three dimensions and exhibit form of what they think were the important things in their service that they want to highlight and share with the American people."

Langdale helped raise more than $300 million, and is also a driving force behind the exhibits, hoping to show a more personal side of the first family.

"When you become president and first lady and you're in everybody's living room for eight years, you become a character, a celebrity, not really a real person," Langdale said. "It's important that we crack that."

Providing future generations presidential history, as law enforcement protects the library's opening.

The presidential library and museum will be open to the public on May 1st. Tickets are already available for purchase.
