HOUSTON—A homeowner was injured Wednesday night when an intense fire spread on his property in northwest Harris County.

Cy-Fair Fire Department arrived to a home on Plum Ridge at Gessner around 9:30 p.m. to find a detached garage fully engulfed in flames. The garage had been converted to a storage building and the homeowner was overcome with smoke as he attempted to save some of his property.

Flames were so intense that the fire spread to the next door neighbor’s yard, and a car under the neighbor’s metal garage structure caught fire.

Both garage structures and the car were a total loss.

The homeowner suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to Cy-Fair hospital for treatment. He is expected to be OK.
