SAN ANTONIO -- A female inmate at the Bexar County jail died Monday afternoon, according to officials.
Law enforcement said the 50-year-old woman had a long history of medical issues. The inmate had been under medical observation in the infirmary at the Annex unit since Sunday evening.
According to a press release issued by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, the woman had been jailed at least 10 times since 2009. Her latest stint at the jail began on March 15, 2013; she was being held on charges of theft and possession of a controlled substance.
There were no signs of trauma or other signs of foul play, according to the Sheriff's office. Detectives were still investigating the scene at the jail Sunday evening.
The final cause of death will be determined by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.
