SAN ANTONIO -- A human trafficking dragnet snared 46 in South Texas. All of the suspects were charged and thrown into jail, including a teacher from Stinson Middle School.

The sting involved help from 100 law enforcement officers from across Bexar County.

Operation Blue Ice was spearheaded by the Department of Homeland Security and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

For nine straight hours on Jan. 11, law enforcement officers posed as prostitutes and "Johns" on various websites, setting up stings and taking down suspects for a crime that often goes unreported: human trafficking.

The crackdown took place on both street prostitution and online solicitation.

"It included a local middle school teacher and an on-duty ambulance driver and, unfortunately, a civilian employee of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office," said Bexar County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau.

Many operations similar to Blue Ice are taking place across the country during the month of January, which is now being recognized as National Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
