SAN ANTONIO -- Several accidents Monday morning may have been triggered by a de-icing agent placed on the roads, according to San Antonio police officers on the scene.
At least three accidents were reported around 2 a.m. on the north-bound lanes of Interstate 37 near East Houston Street. Emergency responders on the scene told KENS 5 they believe the de-icing agent used by TxDot may have triggered the crashes.
An official with the Texas Department of Transportation said there was no way to know if that was the case, but said TxDOT was treating those roads. There were no reported injuries.
In a separate accident, a truck spun out and hit a guard rail off Highway 281 near St. Mary's according to SAPD. An emergency official on the scene of that crash also said it appeared the de-icing agent may have been a factor. There were no reported injuries in that crash.
