AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety says a Most Wanted sex offender has been arrested in Austin.

DPS previously offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Lloyd Lester Gibson, 67, a sex offender who had ties to Austin, Fort Worth and Houston.

He was arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force near the intersection of Oltorf and South Congress after being watched by officials. He was wanted for failing to register as a sex offender and violating his parole.

“I am committed to leveraging all the resources of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and appreciate our long standing partnership with our local and state law enforcement colleagues collectively removing fugitives who are prone to commit future criminal activity against our children," United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas states Robert R. Almonte said.

Gibson’s lengthy criminal history also includes indecent exposure, indecency with a child by fondling, indecency with a child by exposure and burglary of habitation.

Gibson’s most common offense is to expose himself to underage girls.

Gibson has been known to work as a medical technician, lab researcher and computer programmer.

He has convictions in Travis, Smith and Harris counties.
