HOUSTON -- An 18-year-old Cy-Fair High School student accused of hacking into the school district’s computer system was arrested Tuesday at the school, Precinct 4 Constables said.
On Feb. 10, Richard Urban deleted the computer records of 15 teachers and gave all students at the high school complete access to Cy-Fair Independent School District computers, investigators said.
The district said it cost more than $10,000 and took three to five days to get the system up and running again.
Urban claimed he did it to prove how smart he was, investigators said.
He now faces computer security breach charges. If convicted, he could get up to two years in prison.
A Cy-Fair ISD spokesman stressed that confidential employee and student records were not breached.
