SAN ANTONIO -- Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information regarding the driver of a truck that hit and killed a 9-year-old girl in north San Antonio.
Tatyana Babineaux was not in a crosswalk when she was run over by a motorist in a pewter-colored truck on her way to school Wednesday morning, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Authorities said the driver never stopped. The accident happened in the 11000 block of Braesview, just after 7 a.m.
Babineaux was taken to University Hospital, where she died a few hours later.
There were no witnesses to the accident; however, two crossing guards reported seeing a small, two-door light-colored Chevy Colorado -- probably a newer model -- speeding away from the scene, according to SAPD.
The pickup truck has front end damage and pieces of the bumper were left at the scene of the accident.
If you know any information about this case, call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
Police said the suspect will likely face a charge of failure to stop and render aid.
Thursday morning, a makeshift memorial for the young girl continued to grow outside the Austin Pointe apartment complex, where Babineaux was struck.
The girl was a student at Larkspur Elementary School.
