CYPRESS, Texas -- A 16-year-old girl walked half a mile for help after she was assaulted and raped in a wooded area northwest of Houston, officials said late Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department said the teen was assaulted outside near a post office on Spring Cypress Road. Naked, she then walked to the Cinemark movie theater near Highway 290 where she asked patrons for help.

The security guard at the theater called 911, and the girl was flown to the hospital by Life Flight. She was listed in serious condition.

Officials said some of her injuries may have been caused by a barbed wire fence.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the girl will be questioned about her assault in an attempt to track down a suspect.

Detectives are asking anyone with info or who may have seen something suspicious in that area Tuesday night to call the sheriff’s office at 713-755-6044.
