SOMERSET, Texas -- An Amber Alert has been issued for three children who were taken from Somerset Elementary School on Thursday, according to school officials.
Somerset ISD spokesman Maury Vasquez said the three children had been removed from their home and placed in custody of Child Protective Services.
One of the children became sick at school on Thursday and the school nurse accidentally called the kids' grandmother to pick them up.
Vasquez said the emergency contact list had not been updated since the kids -- ages 7,8 and 9 -- had been placed in custody of the state.
The Somerset Police Department and Bexar County Sheriff's Office were searching for the kids and the grandmother on Thursday night.
TxDot San Antonio tweeted that the suspect is driving a maroon Kia Spectra with LP#BBV744 license plate.
