HOUSTON – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has charged three people with capital murder in connection with the stabbing death of a Pasadena man who was found buried in a shallow grave over the weekend.
Harris County investigators found the body of 41-year-old Jesus Leal Valdez buried two feet under a chicken coop near a home in the 5200 block of Mohawk Street on Jan 11. They searched the home after they received an anonymous call to 911.
Valdez’s family had reported him missing on Dec. 31. The father of three disappeared on New Year’s Eve after leaving out to show a woman the truck he was selling.
Investigators said a woman was captured on surveillance cameras at several locations using Valdez’s debit card.
Veronica Muniz, 27, was arrested Wednesday after a 2.5 hour SWAT standoff at an apartment complex in Texas City. Police said another suspect who was in the apartment hanged himself inside a closet.
Muniz was booked into the Harris County jail on capital murder charges. No bond has been set.
Marcelino Osuna, 25, and 30-year-old Richard Osuna, who are brothers, are also charged with capital murder. They both remained at large Thursday.
Police are asking anyone with information on the brother’s whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
