SAN ANTONIO -- One officer was shot around 1 p.m. at the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Emergency Center in the 11000 block of NW Military HWY at Wurzbach at the Alon Town Centre.

A male and a female officer, with five and eight years experience respectively,  were called to the hospital to escort a male in his 30s off the property after he caused a disturbance, Chief William McManus said.  Officers used a Taser on the suspect twice while trying to escort him out.

The suspect then began punching the two officers and left a gash on the female officer's face, Chief McManus said. The suspect somehow managed to get a hold of one of the officer's guns and shot the male officer in the leg.

The male officer then shot the suspect in the abdomen twice, Chief McManus said. Both the suspect and the male officer were taken to University Hospital.

The officers are going to be OK, according to SAPD.

The suspect is "being worked on," according to a SAPD spokesperson.

The female officer was treated at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Emergency Center.

KENS 5's Gary Cooper is at the scene.
