JACINTO CITY, Texas – A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody and questioned by police in Jacinto City after his mom was found fatally stabbed in her bed early Wednesday morning.
A police spokesman told KHOU 11 News the woman had been stabbed multiple times at her home in the 11100 block of Verano Street.
The 911 call came in shortly after 3 a.m. Witnesses told police they saw the woman’s son running from their home screaming.
“Her father called me and told me that there had been a tragedy,” said a family friend, who arrived at the scene after hearing the news. “He said his grandson had killed his daughter. I said, ‘unbelievable.’”
The police chief said the woman’s son was the only other person home at the time.
The teen reportedly made statements to paramedics that indicated he was involved in the stabbing. He was then taken away from the home by officers, who bagged his hands to preserve any evidence.
The chief described the victim’s wounds as “defensive wounds.”
Authorities did not identify the woman or her son, but those who knew the family said the victim was 31 years old.
