MIDLAND, Texas -- Two pilots on a training mission ejected safely from a military airplane that crash-landed at the Midland International Airport.

Officials said the landing gear of the Air Force T-1A Jayhawk jet appeared to collapse when the plane landed around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Joel Langton, chief of media relations for the 47th Flying Training Wing at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, says the pilots weren't hurt. Neither was anyone on the ground.

Four members from the base went to Midland to assist with the plane's recovery.

According to the Laughlin base's Web site, the T-1A Jayhawk is a medium-range, twin-engine plane used to train students selected to fly airlift or tanker aircraft.

Langton says the emergency landing will be investigated.
