DeSOTO, Texas — Police were at the scene of a deadly case of domestic violence in the 700 block of Timber Trail in DeSoto Tuesday night.
It apparently involves a former police officer, and ended in a murder-suicide in the quiet subdivision just west of Polk Street, sources told WFAA.
The man and a woman were going through divorce, a source and a relative confirmed. Police confirmed two people were dead inside the residence.
The woman and her mother were at home on Tuesday evening near East Wintergreen Road and North Polk Street. But when the woman's mother left, a source said, the man kicked in the door and killed his estranged wife.
Police said they responded to a break-in call at 5:30 p.m.
Before they could get there, a source told News 8 the man then committed suicide. He is a former police officer, according to a close friend.
The couple had a young daughter about age seven, but she was not home when this happened.
Police said the woman had recently moved to the DeSoto address from Cedar Hill. According to investigators, there had not been any previous police response to this address aside from "alarm calls."
What sparked this deadly case of domestic violence remains uncertain.
The identities of the dead man and woman were not released.
