HUMBLE, Texas – Texas A&M cadet Amy Pacheco was laid to rest Saturday after she was killed in a car crash almost a week ago on her way to College Station.

Friends, family and fellow cadets helped pack the Bethal Tabernacle Church to say one last goodbye to the freshman student.

Folks said Pacheco, 18, was an outstanding student and a leader, who inspired other teens to do great things.

She was killed last Sunday along with 18-year-old Miguel Hernandez, another freshman cadet, in a fiery car crash on Highway 290 near Binford Road.

The two cadets, along with Pacheco’s boyfriend Francisco Campos, were on their way to an official cadet function when investigators say another driver going the wrong way slammed into their car.

The wrong way driver in this crash, 21-year-old Katie Thomas, also died. Her family has asked for privacy while they grieve.

Campos, also a cadet, survived to crash and is expected to make a full recovery.
