HOUSTON – The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo kicked off Saturday morning with the annual Downtown Rodeo Parade.

Led by grand marshal Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M University head football coach, 17 floats, 10 wagons and stage coaches, 11 marching bands and 13 trail rides made their way through downtown as spectators lined the streets.

Earlier in the morning, the ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run helped raise $400,000 for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Educational Fund as participants made their way through the downtown area. Later in the day at Reliant Park, some 300 teams from all around the county competed in the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Cookoff.
