DALLAS - Police said a man was fatally shot in an attempted robbery early Tuesday morning outside a Dallas nightclub.

According to a report, Tommy Heads, 35, left Chocolate City, located in the 2300 block of S. Beckley Ave., with his girlfriend after the two became involved in an argument with one another inside the club at about 1:15 a.m. As they were walking towards their vehicle, several men approached them. At least one of the men was armed, demanded money and shot Heads, the report said.

Heads was transported to Methodist Central, where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators said the girlfriend wasn't harmed.

Police are searching for at least two suspects in connection with the shooting. While the men were described as wearing dark clothing, few other details were released describing the suspects.
